The book is a collection of over 100 free verse poems about love, radical forgiveness, mental illness, grief recovery, healing after loss, deep acceptance, and transcendent joy. The spiritual reflections on survival, empowerment, and resilience coincide with the phases of the moon to discover a light that has known darkness.
Â
"everything is made from the remnants of what was, so - yes -you can build from it again"
Raw and honest with lush, evocative imagery, MOON FULL OF MOONS is poetry therapy that will appeal to readers who love the lived resilience of Maya Angelou, the soul-force reflections of Rumi, and the natural inspiration of Mary Oliver.

"If you are looking for a new lens for the world we live in today, this is the book for you. As a poetry admirer (not an expert by any means), I found this compilation immediately compelling and will likely be one of the few poetry collections that I will be rereading, as there is more between each line than you can get with a first read only. Artful, soulful, and with just enough of the fantastic to allow every story tell itself directly to the reader instead of the reader being told how to interpret it. A great find, highly recommended."

Moon Full of Moons Poetry of Transformation Kat Lehmann Books Reviews
- If you are looking for a new lens for the world we live in today, this is the book for you. A great find, highly recommended.
- While some of the poems are more abstract in nature, it gives you the opportunity to reflect within and search for your own meaning. Other poems made me realize that there are some core experiences of womanhood that are timeless and universal and made me feel connected with the author, my mother, and my daughters! Thank you Kat, for sharing this with the world!
- Truly beautiful thoughts, so easy to connect with. If you've had children there are some entries here that are breathtaking; bringing back emotions for which you've finally found expression. There are others that evoke other powerful responses as well. Once you've experienced this book you'll be looking for more from Kat.
- In a world where the miracles of our children, the beauty of nature, and phases of the moon are often swallowed up in the chaos of life, the poetic insights in “Moon Full of Moons†gently and warmly wrapped around my heart and soul. A gentle refocus from the wise and gifted Kat Lehmann.
- Amazing! So inspiring! Take a journey, and venture from darkness into the light. Beautifully done and enchanting.
- What a great book! Loved it! So inspirational and peaceful! Self-help in a whole new way! Like none I have read before. I really enjoyed it!
- I generally dislike writing about writing, but Lehmann has my attention in the second poem here, Being a Poem. Turn to this one when you get this book, or ‘peek inside.’ Nicely done.
For an example of Lehmann’s use of the ordinary and personal to give you, her reader, an experience, turn to Peach. “A peach is always eaten on its own terms.â€
This happens again in Alive.
In Orion the Hunter we find this “You are an illusion – / a Rorschach test /revealing the values of others. /Your lights will extinguish / like birthday candles /when Nature makes a wish.†This poem is far more complex (and beautiful) than this short quote can possibly reveal. Buy the book and turn to this one.
In The Language of Lines “Wrinkles /like furrows worn by stream beds, /overlap like tales written in the dark. /Fragments of lines are experience to be read /like a book broadly open for sharing.†Again, this is a sample of a fine experience delivered into your mind and gut.
Again, in Family Photos “Family is sweetness around me, like apple /on my solid core. /Looking at photographs – /slices of days, /captured /and flattened /like roses.â€
For a surprise ending, turn to Unspinning the Earth.
In House for Sale you will find an amazing metaphor. This happens again in My River.
My notes include many other favourites. Hopefully I’ve given you an insight into what this book did to me.
Normally I have boilerplate here about how I come up with a star count, so here goes my personal guidelines, when doing an ‘official’ KBR review, are as follows five stars means, roughly equal to best in genre. Rarely given. Four stars means, extremely good. Three stars means, definitely recommendable. I am a tough reviewer. Lehmann is a very fine poet. Put up beside Robert Frost (The Lovely Shall Be Choosers), e.e.cummings (Tumbling hair; O purple finch), H.D. (The Helmsman), Margaret Atwood (Projected Slide of an Unknown Soldier) Lehmann is indeed ‘roughly equal to best in genre.’ I try hard to be consistent, and for me five stars is a clear and easy decision. Highly recommended.

(Note this reviewer received a free copy of this book for an independent review. He is not associated with the author or .) - Outdoor persons, and deep-thinkers will enjoy this book of poetry, in which is the minuit of our natural world. A breath of fresh air, as if sinking into the serene calm we feel when stood on the beach, with the sea lapping at our feet, and having left the concrete jungles behind. While many of the poems are observational, others are opinions of the writer, and matters of the heart are written about, as well as the moon, family, rebuilding, the earth, trees, and age.
“It is the move behind existing that starts livingâ€
My highlights are poems Peach and House for Sale.
The circle of life all in one volume, Moon Full of Moons is an enjoyable read and my review just doesn’t do it justice.
