"Just a quick review to say that I really enjoyed the story and that I would like to see more from the author. The characters are well developed and believable and the story itself flowed nicely. The book is long but it doesn't seem to slow down and I never lost interest or wish to skip ahead as it kept me engaged the whole time.
I would like to see the story of Janus developed more as I really liked her character and felt that her story wasn't really as developed as the rest yet she was still an integral part of it all and interesting to boot.I believe I read that there was a sequel in the works and I will definitely buy it when it is released as Donna Cook's storytelling is well worth the price of admission."

  • Just a quick review to say that I really enjoyed the story and that I would like to see more from the author. The characters are well developed and believable and the story itself flowed nicely. The book is long but it doesn't seem to slow down and I never lost interest or wish to skip ahead as it kept me engaged the whole time.
I would like to see the story of Janus developed more as I really liked her character and felt that her story wasn't really as developed as the rest yet she was still an integral part of it all and interesting to boot.I believe I read that there was a sequel in the works and I will definitely buy it when it is released as Donna Cook's storytelling is well worth the price of admission.
  • If you like books like Harry Potter, then you'll definitely like this one. It's fast-paced, surprising, magical, and just such a fun read. A surprisingly good first book. I loved the characters and loved how the author gives us their different view points. I especially enjoyed the relationship between the three main characters. I was enjoying the book so much I didn't want it to end. The story wraps up neatly, like it can stand on its own, but I think I read there's a sequel coming out. I can't wait to find out what happens next. I'll definitely read the next book by this author.
  • A long but very interesting saga of 3 brothers, each with their own talent, are brought together to fight a wicked wizard. This story weaves their stories together to form an interesting novel.
  • If you're into fiction that's equal parts adventure, fantasy, and mystery, with a dash of romance thrown in for good measure, this book is worth reading. I was particularly impressed with the way the author kept the romance portion to a level that was clean enough for readers of all ages to enjoy, but not so sweet that it made your teeth hurt. I would buy this book for anyone (male or female, young or old) who likes to read. I bought the version and decided to try reading it on my phone. Since I have my phone everywhere I also had my book, and I couldn't put it down. I read while waiting for a movie to start, I read while riding in the car, I even read while I was waiting for my cookies to come out of the oven. If I had a spare minute I put it to use! Gift of the Phoenix kept me up into the early morning hours, because the story just wouldn't get to a place where I could go to sleep.

The storyline is a good one, and I found it to be pretty original. It has depth, and it's one of those stories where you get attached to the characters and want to know more about them. The author does a good job of surprising the reader with unexpected twists and turns. The book is truly a work of art that was woven together with genuine talent. Anything that I see in the future with Donna Cook as the author will be an instant addition to my collection.
  • This was a terrific book! Exactly the sort of fantasy I enjoy. The characters are rich and interesting-especially the 3 brothers. I understand a sequel is in the works-can't wait to read it!
  • I enjoyed this escapist sort of book which managed to stay away from too much violence and, whilst not letting on till the end, manages a happy ending. A great read for a winter evening for anyone who likes fantasy, magic, romance and a mostly quietly paced style.
  • I enjoyed this book. The author does a great job of painting an image with her words. The story was creative and fun to read.
  • This story drew me in from the beginning. Once you start reading this book, you will be hard pressed to put it down. It is a mixture of mystery, adventure, and fantasy. All of what I look for in a story. This new author has a true talent for story-telling and I hope to see more from her. I highly recommend this book for anyone who appreciates the talent of good writing.
